Self Defense Training IS Firearms TrainingU.S. News managed to keep a fairly unbiased viewpoint of Dr. Ignatius Piazza's project, Front Sight Firearms Training Institute. This unbiased, ‘nonplussed' viewpoint is one that America loves. Americans typically love to be in one of two emotional ranges: unmoved, or shocked. Constitutional rights are daily infringed upon and amended by new laws and Congressional acts, and Americans don't care. Rights which the Founding Fathers would have found basic and unalienable are slowly whittled away right under the Peoples' noses, and yet no one pays attention. A school shooting occurs, however, and suddenly people are up in arms about what the different problems and potential solutions are. No one spoke up BEFORE about how arming teachers was the clue. No one spoke up when state after state rescinded the right to carry a concealed weapon. Not nearly enough citizens paid attention as the Second Amendment was treated like a hassle which needed to be legislated around. But as soon as shooting after shooting occurs, people finally realize a very basic fact: firearms and firearms training ARE self defense training. More and more Americans are finally realizing that if we create laws making firearms illegal, the only people who won't own the guns are law-abiding citizens who will need to defend themselves against criminals who are – surprise! – armed! Thank Heaven, then, for Dr. Ignatius Piazza who has realized for quite a while, at least since his house was fired at in a drive-by shooting in 1988, that firearms training is absolutely equal to self defense training. If one doesn't want to be the victim of an attacker bigger or more willing to throw a punch, he or she receives hand-to-hand self defense training. If one doesn't want to be the victim of an attacker armed with a gun, then one gets gun training; gun training IS self defense training. Front Sight Firearms Training Institute knows this, Dr. Ignatius Piazza knows this, America is finally starting to figure this out. |
